This workshop will provide a comprehensive examination of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), created by Marsha Linehan, for the difficult to treat patient, suffering from a Borderline Personality Disorder. A case vignette will be presented to illustrate the effective application of this approach to clinical practice. The presenter will demonstrate how the creative use of the psychoanalytic self helped in tolerating and containing the patient’s unmanageable affects which lead to change. Participants will be encouraged to share their clinical experiences and counter-transferential responses.
